It’s Cervical Cancer Awareness Month - January 2018

January is Cervical Cancer Awareness Month.  Let’s take this chance to continue communicating that HPV vaccine equals cancer prevention. Every year, about 4,000 women die from cervical cancer in the United States and more than 300,000 women endure invasive testing and treatment for lesions (changes in the cells) on the cervix that can develop into cancers. Testing and treatment for these “precancers” can have lasting effects.

ASCCP, The Society of Lower Genital
Tract Disorders, has a few simple ways
to share awareness throughout the month.

Provide Cervical Cancer Handouts to Patients or Students on Your Campus
Download & Print a handout about cervical cancer from CDC’s Inside Knowledge: Get the Facts About Gynecologic Cancer campaign. The campaign educates women about gynecologic cancer, providing important “inside knowledge” about their bodies and health.
    Social Media: #CervicalCancerAwareness
Social media is a great way to share information about cervical cancer. Follow ASCCP on Facebook and Twitter and like, share and retweet relevant posts throughout the month. Don't forget to use #CervicalCancerAwareness in your post.

You may also add a Cervical Cancer Ribbon to your Facebook or Twitter profile picture. Access the Twibbon website to add your ribbon today!
