January is Cervical Cancer Awareness Month. Let’s take this chance to continue communicating that HPV vaccine equals cancer prevention. Every year, about 4,000 women die from cervical cancer in the United States and more than 300,000 women endure invasive testing and treatment for lesions (changes in the cells) on the cervix that can develop into cancers. Testing and treatment for these “precancers” can have lasting effects.

You can help spread the word about cervical cancer, screening, and HPV vaccination this month. Here’s how:

on your website or in your next newsletter. - Link to our HPV vaccination videos or PSAs on your website, e-newsletter or in an email to your members.
- Share powerful stories from cervical cancer survivors.
- Provide physicians and clinicians the link to CDC’s new HPV portal, which features materials to help raise awareness about HPV vaccination as cancer prevention.
- Learn more about the two screening tests that can help prevent cervical cancer or find it early.
- Email us to receive the CDC HPV banner ads to customize for your site or place in your newsletters.
- Syndicate the most up-to-date HPV vaccine information from the www.cdc.gov/HPV.
